If Your Congregation is Not Already Affiliated with a Denomination . . . Why Would You?
Recently a retired ministry colleague contacted me for advice about his congregation. During his ministry he was a member of churches affiliated with various denominations. In retirement he connected with a non-denominational church.
His church was considering affiliation with a denomination. They interviewed leaders from various denominations present in their area. Now they needed to decide.
Knowing my life-long work with dozens of denominations, he asked me to address this question: Why should they consider affiliation with a denomination.
My response spoke with both a positive and cautionary tone.
Why Affiliate?
(I provide 13 reasons to affiliate with soft push backs as to why not to affiliate. If you have access to Facebook, go to my group at ForthTelling Innovation to download it for free. If you do not have access to Facebook send me an email at BullardJournal@gmail.com and I will send it to you.)
Excellent list George, a few of which I had not yet put into words. I also liked your discussion questions; the last two are particularly relevant in today's church culture.
